The IQAC at KMCT IETM operates with a clear mandate: to move the institution from intent to institution. In Academic Year 2025–26, the IQAC developed a structured academic audit framework — including a Master SOP, a two-cycle internal audit system, and a centralised Document Control System. A year-long quality enrichment initiative brought in external voices from the academic and industry ecosystem. KMCT IETM conducted its first formal cross-departmental internal audits in 2025–26, achieving an institutional compliance score of 83–84% in its inaugural cycle.

About the IQAC

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of KMCT Institute of Emerging Technology and Management was constituted in accordance with the Academic Audit Policy of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and aligned with the quality criteria of the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The IQAC functions as the institution’s primary quality governance body, overseeing academic audits, faculty development, documentation standards, and institutional readiness for accreditation.

“Quality is not a destination. It is the discipline of asking, every single day — are we doing this better than we did it yesterday?”
— IQAC, KMCT IETM
IQAC Composition & Governance

The IQAC is constituted as per NBA/AICTE norms with representation from management, administration, faculty, students, alumni, industry, and technical staff.

Audit Framework & Cycles

KMCT IETM follows a Cross-Departmental Internal Audit Model as mandated by KTU. IQAC-appointed faculty auditors from one department assess another, ensuring objectivity and inter-departmental learning. Two complete audit cycles were conducted in 2025–26.

Cycle 1  ·  Mid-Semester
Internal Academic Audit
18 December 2025
Baseline audit covering all six departments. Established compliance benchmarks, verified course file readiness, and identified areas requiring structured attention before end-semester.
Cycle 2  ·  End-Semester
Internal Academic Audit
13 March 2026
End-semester audit reviewing action taken on Cycle 1 observations. Consolidated compliance summaries prepared and shared with all Heads of Departments. Institutional compliance of 83–84% recorded.
✓   Institutional Strengths
  • Strong and consistent course file documentation across departments
  • Verified internal assessments with complete supporting documentation
  • Active mentoring and student advisory systems with documented records
  • Functional IQAC with regular meetings and documented Minutes of Meeting
  • Proactive cross-departmental audit model ensuring objectivity
  • Institutional momentum: IIT Madras MoU, MCA and MBA launch, NSS establishment
→   Areas for Improvement
  • ICT-enabled teaching documentation requires standardised evidence formats
  • Innovative teaching practices are implemented but not consistently documented
  • Course file completeness gaps in some departments at time of Cycle 1 audit
  • MOOC/NPTEL course completion records need systematic maintenance
  • Result analysis requires deeper linkage to teaching interventions
Gap Closure Framework

Identifying areas for improvement is only the first step. The IQAC at KMCT IETM has developed a structured Gap Closure Framework for each improvement area — with defined root causes, concrete strategies, timelines, and verifiable outcome indicators.

StrategyA structured ICT Usage Log Template will be introduced across all departments from AY 2026–27, compiled into a centralised IQAC Evidence Repository. A faculty workshop on ICT integration will be conducted in June 2026, with a departmental ‘ICT Champion’ system for peer mentoring.
TimelineTemplate rollout: June 2026  ·  First audit review: December 2026
Target100% of faculty maintaining a completed ICT Usage Log by end of Semester 1, AY 2026–27.
02
Innovative Teaching Documentation
StrategyA standardised Innovative Teaching Template will be introduced across all departments from AY 2026–27. Faculty will document at least two innovative strategies per course per semester. The IQAC will curate an annual ‘Best Practices in Pedagogy’ compendium from these submissions.
TimelineTemplate rollout: July 2026  ·  First compendium: March 2027
TargetMinimum two documented innovative practices per faculty member per semester via standardised template. Institutional Pedagogy Compendium published by end of AY 2026–27.
Status: Template under design by IQAC  ·  Rollout: July 2026  ·  First review: December 2026
